We registered as a non-profit organization in the United States because we want to be clear that we exist to serve you, the public, with our quality journalism about the world around us. Corporate owned journalism organizations will always have a tension between their duty to serve their shareholders and their unique role in serving the public. When those two compete, the public usually loses.
We want to be built and supported by the global community that values our work. We respect that audience and want to bring them into the reporting process as stakeholders in their own information system.
